21-year-old striker Valerijs Lizunovs has joined BFC Daugavpils on loan from RFS for the 2025 Virsliga season.
The Latvian forward was acquired by RFS in the winter of 2022, and despite being with the club for three years, the 21-year-old has yet to make an official appearance for the Latvian champions.
In each of his three seasons as an RFS player, Lizunovs has been loaned out – twice (now thrice) to Daugavpils and once to FK Tukums for the whole Virsliga season. In the 2022 season with Daugavpils, the striker scored 11 goals, which was then followed by a 9-goal season in 2023.
Last season, for the first time, he was loaned out to FK Tukums, where he didn’t have the best of starts, suffering an injury early on, but later got 3 goals to his tally for the season.
Lizunovs now joins Daugavpils on loan for the third time in his career as he’ll look to help them achieve good results in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers as well as the league to try and cement himself as a squad player for RFS in the near future.
