UEFA has fined IFK Göteborg €25,000 after disorder by the club’s supporters during their UEFA Conference League qualifier against FCI Levadia at Tallinn’s A. Le Coq Arena.
European football’s control, ethics and disciplinary bodies also ordered Göteborg to reimburse the damage caused in the away end. In addition, UEFA imposed a one-match ban on the club selling tickets to away supporters in UEFA competitions, suspended for a probationary period of two years.
The incident took place during the Conference League tie in Tallinn, when visiting fans caused extensive damage in the away section. Two toilets were heavily vandalised, graffiti was left across the area and eight seats were broken.
UEFA’s decision came around three weeks after the match, longer than the timeframe often seen for similar disciplinary cases. Göteborg were eliminated from this season’s Conference League in the third qualifying round and would need a markedly improved domestic campaign, or a cup success, to return to UEFA competition next term.
