Tartu JK Tammeka opened the 11th round of the Estonian Premium Liiga with a hard-fought 1-0 home victory over FC Kuressaare, securing their second consecutive win by a one-goal margin.
The match at Tamme Stadium marked Tammeka’s return to natural grass for the first time this season, but the opening half offered little excitement for the home supporters. Kuressaare controlled more territory and won five first-half corners, yet neither side managed to create any truly dangerous opportunities in a very physical and cautious contest.
Tammeka came out much sharper after halftime and nearly scored immediately through Tristan Koskor, only for Karl-Romet Nõmm to deny him from close range.
The breakthrough finally arrived in the 58th minute. Substitute Kauan Pereira combined well with Koskor before delivering a dangerous low ball across goal that reached Pavel Marin at the far post, with the winger sliding the ball over the line to give Tammeka the lead.
Kuressaare pushed for an equalizer and finished the match with nine corner kicks overall, but struggled to seriously trouble Kristen Lapa in goal. Tammeka even had the ball in the net for a second time late on through Muhammed Hydara, though the goal was disallowed for a foul in the buildup.
The hosts comfortably saw out the final minutes to secure an important three points, while Kuressaare’s difficult run continued with a fourth consecutive league defeat.
Tammeka next host Nõmme United next Friday, while Kuressaare return to action in nine days against Nõmme Kalju.
