In the opening match of the 7th round of the Lithuanian Topyga, FK Sūduva capitalised on repeated defensive errors from FK Riteriai to secure a dominant 5-0 victory at home. It also marked Sūduva’s fifth clean sheet of the league season.
Notably, Sūduva new signing Meinardas Mikulėnas – a former Riteriai player who recently made his debut for the Lithuanian national team – was not included in the matchday squad after his move was confirmed during the international break.
Sūduva started the match on the front foot, while Riteriai continued their search for a first win of the season. The hosts created an early warning in the 7th minute when Afghan forward Omar Haydary struck the post.
Riteriai responded in the 21st minute with a rare opportunity, as Arvydas Novikovas tested goalkeeper Ignas Plūkas with a free kick, but it proved to be their only real threat of the half.
Just a minute later, Sūduva took the lead. Faustas Steponavičius won the ball high up the pitch and quickly released Ernestas Stočkūnas, who squared it across goal for Haydary to finish from close range – marking his first goal in Lithuania after missing the 2025 season through injury.
The game quickly slipped away from Riteriai. Only two minutes later, another costly turnover in their own half led to Sūduva doubling their advantage. This time Haydary turned provider, setting up Steponavičius, who calmly beat goalkeeper Simone Moschin in a one-on-one situation.
Sūduva continued to control proceedings early in the second half, but it was Riteriai who briefly saw more of the ball as they attempted to respond. However, their possession ultimately worked against them. Another misplaced pass in their own half triggered a swift counterattack, ending with a long-range effort from Steve Lawson that was turned into the net by Ibrahima Seck – the young loanee from Raków Częstochowa scoring his first goal in Lithuania to make it 3-0.
Sūduva showed no signs of slowing down. In the 78th minute, after a scramble in the penalty area, Belgian forward Moutir Chaija reacted quickest to a loose ball and slotted it home for the fourth goal.
The rout was completed late on when substitute Lucky Tom added a fifth, capping off a ruthless attacking display.
It was Sūduva’s biggest win of the season so far, lifting them to fifth place with 10 points. For Riteriai, it was a repeat of their heaviest defeat of the campaign – matching their 0-5 loss to Banga Gargždai earlier in March. Still without a win, they remain bottom of the table with just one point from seven matches.
FK Sūduva vs FK Riteriai – 5-0 (2-0)
