Iago Siqueira’s long-range strike gave Riga FC a late 1-0 home win over Liepāja in what was a tense match, as the champions avenged their only defeat of the 2026 season.
The breakthrough came in the 66th minute when Liepāja misplaced a pass deep in their own half, allowing former Arsenal youngster Salah Oulad to move the ball on to Siqueira. The Brazilian hit a powerful effort from about 25 metres, leaving Petkovic no chance.
Goal scoring opportunities were limited in the first half, with the first clear opening arriving late on when Baba Musah’s header from a corner was cleared off the line by Kyvon Leidsman. Mohamed Badamosi then missed from close range before the break, hitting the crossbar soon after the game restarted, while Caio curled against the post as the home side steadily increased the pressure. Liepāja responded with chances of their own, including a dangerous strike by Patrikejevs from just outside the penalty box and a controversially disallowed goal from a corner that could have brought the game back on even ground.
Liepāja were the only side to beat Riga FC this season, winning 2-1 in the opening week in Liepāja.
