Estonian midfielder Rocco Robert Shein started for Portsmouth in the English Championship, but his side suffered a 1-2 away defeat against Bristol City.
Portsmouth picked up their first league win of the season last weekend away to Lincoln and were looking to build on that result with a second straight victory. However, Bristol City took control of the match and opened the scoring in the 31st minute through Swiss forward Lorent Tolaj.
The home side doubled their advantage in the 56th minute, leaving Portsmouth with a difficult task in the second half. The visitors did manage to pull one goal back deep into stoppage time, but it came too late to change the outcome.
Shein, who has started all four of Portsmouth’s competitive matches at the beginning of the season, played the full first half before being substituted at the break.
The defeat was Portsmouth’s second in their opening three Championship matches. They will have a quick chance to respond on Tuesday, when they host Derby County.
