FK Auda came from two goals down to secure a 3-2 away victory over FS Jelgava in Matchday 8 of the Tonybet Virslīga. League top scorer Josué Vergara netted twice, while Hussaini Ibrahim struck the winner in the 78th minute.

Despite being without head coach Didier Zanetti, who was suspended for the match, Auda started strongly and dominated the early stages. Within the first 15 minutes, the visitors could have easily been 3-0 ahead, but Youba Traoré, Edvin Bongemba and Vergara all failed to convert their chances.

Football, however, proved unforgiving. In the 15th minute, Jelgava capitalised on their first real opportunity, as Alans Kangars headed home from a Leos Prior corner to give the hosts a surprising lead.

The situation worsened for Auda in the 26th minute. Roberts Meļķis produced a brilliant individual effort, collecting the ball near the penalty area, rounding the advancing goalkeeper, and finishing into an empty net to double Jelgava’s advantage.

Jelgava had a chance to extend their lead further when Filip Hašek missed from a good position, and that proved costly. Auda quickly pulled one back, finally converting one of their opportunities. Following a set-piece routine, Eduards Dašķevičs delivered a cross that Vergara powerfully headed into the net, scoring his fifth goal of the season.

The 18-year-old Panamanian struck again early in the second half. After a cross from Tin Hrvoj, Vergara produced a precise header to equalise and reclaim the top spot in the league’s scoring charts with six goals.

Both sides continued to threaten, but the comeback was completed in the 78th minute. Hussaini Ibrahim scored with a long-range effort to give Auda a hard-fought victory and all three points.

The defeat extends Jelgava’s winless run to seven matches, with their only victory this season coming in the opening round against Tukums.

With the win, Auda move up to third place in the table, while Jelgava remain eighth with five points after eight matches.

Jelgava will look to end their winless streak on Monday away against Ogre United, while Auda host FK Tukums 2000 a day earlier.
