Latvian champions Riga FC have announced the signing of left-back Nor Maviram from Portuguese club Tondela, adding further reinforcement ahead of their UEFA Conference League play-off tie.
The 25-year-old featured prominently for Tondela in the Portuguese top flight last season, making 20 league appearances while contributing two goals and two assists. His standout performance came on 3 January, when he scored once and provided two assists in Tondela’s 3-1 victory over Arouca.
Despite Mavira’s contributions, Tondela were relegated from the Primeira Liga after just one season back in the top flight.
Born in Nigeria, Mavira has spent his entire professional career in Portugal. He moved to Porto academy in 2019, but a year later went through the Vizela academy and made his Primeira Liga debut in May 2022 after progressing through the club’s youth system.
The left-back has also accumulated two seasons of experience in Portugal’s second tier, spending one campaign with Vilaverdense before joining Tondela, where he helped the club earn promotion back to the Primeira Liga.
Riga FC will soon turn their attention to Thursday’s UEFA Conference League play-off first leg away to Faroese champions KI Klaksvik. Before that, however, the Latvian champions host FK Metta in the Latvian Cup quarter-finals later today.
