According to Italian journalist Nicolò Schira, Scottish champions Celtic are continuing their pursuit of Lithuanian Gvidas Gineitis and are preparing an improved offer for the Torino midfielder.

The 22-year-old has been linked with several clubs during the summer transfer window, including reported interest from the Bundesliga. However, Celtic appear to be the club pushing hardest for his signature and are now ready to submit a new proposal to Serie A side Torino.

Schira reports that Torino are seeking a transfer fee in the region of €14-15 million for the Lithuanian international. Gineitis has been with the Italian club since 2022 and made his Serie A debut in February 2023 against AC Milan. Since then, he has made 76 Serie A appearances, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

Celtic’s interest could be driven by the possible departure of one of their key midfielders, Arne Engels. The Belgian international, who joined the Scottish club from Augsburg two years ago, has reportedly attracted attention from several Premier League and Serie A clubs.

The Scottish transfer window remains open until 3 September.
