Maksim Paskotši’s Gent were eliminated from the Belgian Cup after losing on penalties to third-tier Union Rochefortoise in the last 32.

Gent manager Rik De Mil made nine changes following Thursday’s Conference League match against Aarhus, with Paskotši among the substitutes. The Estonian defender came on in the 118th minute, with the tie still level at 3-3 after extra time.

Union took the lead in the 19th minute before El Hadji Seck equalised. Gent looked set to progress after an own goal and Seck’s second put them 3-1 ahead early in the second half, but the hosts replied in the 64th minute and levelled from the penalty spot six minutes later.

Union scored all four of their penalties. Gent’s Momodou Sonko struck the post with their fourth attempt, and Michel-Ange Balikwisha then sent the next kick over the bar to confirm Gent’s exit.
