Maksim Paskotši made his first league start of the season as Gent beat Zulte Waregem 2-0 in the Belgian top flight. The Estonia defender played the full match, with Ibrahima Cissé opening the scoring in the 12th minute after goalkeeper Brent Gabriel failed to hold a long throw. Michel-Ange Balikwisha headed Gent’s second in stoppage time. Gent have seven wins and a draw from eight matches; Paskotši has featured in four.

Matvei Igonen made a full appearance for Degerfors in a 1-1 draw with reigning Swedish champions Mjällby. He turned a close-range effort from Jeppe Kjær on to the post in the first half. Degerfors went ahead in the 52nd minute, but Kjær levelled four minutes later with a low shot from about 15 metres. Mjällby are 12th and Degerfors 13th, separated by three points. Igonen has started all 23 of Degerfors’ league matches.

Michael Schjønning-Larsen also played the full match as Kilmarnock lost 3-1 to Rangers in Scotland. The defender was booked as Rangers led 3-0 at half-time; Nicky Clescenco scored Kilmarnock’s late consolation. Schjønning-Larsen has started all eight league games, while Kilmarnock sit bottom of the 12-team table.

Marten-Chris Paalberg started for Saint-Étienne’s reserve side in a 2-0 defeat by Le Mans in the Challenge Espoirs. Paalberg helped create a first-half chance, but team-mate Noah Moulin hit the post. Abdoubakar Traore also struck the woodwork after the break, before Le Mans added a second against the run of play. Saint-Étienne have lost both of their matches in the competition, which features 21 clubs’ reserve teams across three groups.
