Paide Linnameeskond ended their four-match winless run in the Premium Liiga with a narrow 1-0 home victory over Harju JK Laagri in Matchday 16.
The decisive moment arrived midway through the first half. In the 24th minute, Paide attacked down the right through Abdoulie Sohna, whose cross was aimed towards Martin Miller inside the penalty area. Harju defender Andres Järve tried to clear the danger, but his touch sent the ball into his own net and gave the hosts a 1-0 lead.
The goal opened the game up. Paide almost doubled their advantage shortly afterwards, with Siim Luts having an effort blocked in front of goal before Edgar Tur fired over the crossbar. Moments later, another dangerous situation inside the Harju box ended with Luts getting a shot away, but the ball was blocked near the goal line by Kaspar Laur.
Harju struggled to create clear chances during the first half, although Joseph Ndakala threatened on the counter when he beat Paide goalkeeper Ebrima Jarju to the ball outside the area, only for Tur to recover and clear the danger.
The visitors improved after the break and began to ask more questions of the Paide defence. Ndakala headed narrowly wide from a Kristjan Kriis cross, while Sander Liit sent a long-range effort just over the bar. Harju also created pressure from set-pieces and corners, but could not find a way past Jarju.
Paide had opportunities to put the match beyond doubt. Abdourahman Badamosi missed the clearest chance in the 70th minute after a defensive mistake from Järve and a rush off the line by Harju goalkeeper Jan Vainula, but the forward could only send his falling effort against the crossbar from close range.
The final stages were tense, with Harju continuing to chase an equaliser. A late free-kick caused chaos inside the Paide penalty area, but the home side eventually cleared their lines and protected the narrow advantage.
The victory gives Paide a much-needed three points and ends their four-match winless streak, while Harju reimain in the seventh place with 19 points.
