Litmanen scores his first goal in Estonian league system

Former Ajax, Barcelona and Liverpool midfielder Jari Litmanen has scored his first goal in the Estonian football system at the age of 55, finding the net with a long-range effort from near the halfway line.

The legendary Finland international, who lives in Estonia, struck late in Kalev III’s 8-3 win against Ida-Viru Noova in the II Liiga B South/East zone on Sunday. Litmanen intercepted an opposition pass and then sent a shot from distance over goalkeeper Pavel Gribanov and into the goal.

Litmanen came off the bench in the 72nd minute with Kalev III leading 5-3, and his goal in the 81st minute made it 8-3. Kalev III added three unanswered goals during his time on the pitch.

Kalev III are third in their zone with five wins, one draw and one defeat, while Noova sit eighth. Litmanen has now played four II Liiga B matches as a substitute, logging 62 minutes in total, including 28 minutes this season.
