Lithuanian young talent Kristupas Liutvinas has completed a transfer to Portuguese giants Benfica from Vilnius Football Academy.
The 16-year-old midfielder becomes the latest Lithuanian prospect to secure a move abroad, joining one of Europe’s most renowned clubs for youth development.
Announcing the transfer, Vilnius Football Academy described the move as a landmark moment in both the player’s career and the academy’s history.
“This is a landmark moment not only in Kristupas’ career, but also in the history of our Academy. It is another reminder that long-term development, daily commitment and belief in the process can open the door to the highest level of European football.
“We are incredibly proud to see one of our own take this next step. Behind every transfer like this are years of hard work, resilience, difficult moments and the dedication of everyone who has been part of the journey – family, coaches, teammates and our entire academy community.
“We wish Kristupas every success in Lisbon and look forward to following the next chapter of his journey.”
Liutvinas has already represented Lithuania eight times at Under-17 level and was a first team player for Vilnius Football Academy this season. He featured twice in the Lithuanian Cup, scoring twice, while also making three appearances in Lithuania’s third tier, where he found the net on three occasions.
