The result leaves Liepāja just two points ahead of BFC Daugavpils, who have a game in hand, keeping the battle for the final European qualification spot wide open.
With the season approaching its conclusion, Liepāja entered the encounter knowing that victory would strengthen their position in the race for European football next summer. The hosts enjoyed more possession throughout the first half but struggled to break down a disciplined Tukums defence.
Their best opportunity arrived in the 11th minute when Danila Patijčuks found himself in an excellent position to turn the ball into an almost empty corner of the net following a corner kick. However, Tukums goalkeeper Sergejs Vilkovs produced an important save to deny the midfielder from close range.
Liepāja continued to push forward, with Marvin Martins heading narrowly wide following an Abiodun Ogunniyi cross in the 15th minute. At the opposite end, Ruslans Deružinskis threatened on the counterattack five minutes later, sending his effort just wide of the target.
Tukums also tested Liepāja goalkeeper Dāvis Ošs in the 26th minute when Kaspars Anmanis attempted an ambitious strike from more than 35 yards, forcing the goalkeeper into a save.
Despite Liepāja controlling possession, clear-cut chances remained limited, and the teams entered the interval level at 0-0 following a largely uneventful first half in which the referee awarded no stoppage time.
The second half followed a similar pattern, although Liepāja began to create more shooting opportunities. Joseph Ede Oloko headed over shortly after the restart before forcing Vilkovs into another save in the 54th minute with an effort from outside the penalty area.
Tukums responded with several efforts of their own. Anmanis tested Ošs from distance in the 62nd minute, while Bogdans Samoilovs and Rūdolfs Reingolcs both missed the target. In the 68th minute, Deružinskis forced another save from the Liepāja goalkeeper following a pass from Daniels Radzenieks.
With time running out, Liepāja introduced Amar Haidara and Crysthyan in an attempt to find a breakthrough. However, the hosts continued to struggle in the final third.
Oloko had two attempts in quick succession in the 82nd minute, seeing his first shot blocked before sending the rebound wide. Tukums also had an opportunity to launch a dangerous counterattack with a numerical advantage late in the match, but poor execution prevented the visitors from capitalising.
Liepāja’s final opportunity arrived during stoppage time when Oloko narrowly failed to connect with a dangerous ball inside the penalty area, allowing Tukums to hold on for a valuable away point.
The result represents a significant setback for Liepāja, who remain just two points ahead of BFC Daugavpils in the battle for the final European qualification spot. With Daugavpils having played one match fewer, the race remains firmly in their hands as the Virslīga season approaches its conclusion.
