Premium Liiga leaders Levadia made light work of Kuressaare at A. Le Coq Arena in the Matchday 27, scoring twice in each half on their way to a comfortable 4-0 victory.
Levadia needed only six minutes to take control. After calmly working the ball towards the edge of the penalty area, Gregor Lehtmets supplied the final pass for Maksimilian Skvortsov, who finished through goalkeeper Karl-Romet Nõmm’s legs from close range.
The hosts dominated possession from there without forcing the issue, although Kuressaare showed they could still cause problems on the counterattack. Their biggest opportunity of the first half arrived after a disastrous backpass from Tanel Tammik allowed Aston Visse to intercept and round Karl Andre Vallner. Visse hesitated with the goal exposed, however, giving Tammik enough time to recover and block his eventual shot.
Levadia punished that miss in the 40th minute. Enock Otoo controlled a cross near the penalty spot before leaving the ball for Lehtmets, who fired through Nõmm’s legs to double the advantage.
Kuressaare continued to look for openings after the break, with Visse narrowly failing to reach a dangerous low delivery in front of goal. At the opposite end, Levadia came close to a third when Skvortsov attempted to lift the ball over Nõmm, only for the goalkeeper’s touch to divert it against the post.
The league leaders eventually put the contest beyond doubt in the 81st minute. Nikoloz Kutateladze found Otoo outside the penalty area and the Ghanaian took one touch before driving a superb finish into the top corner for 3-0.
There was still time for a memorable moment for Geovani Reis, who had come off the bench to make his Levadia debut. In the 88th minute, Joao Pedro picked him out following a short corner and the newcomer controlled the ball before calmly finding the corner to complete the scoring.
The 4-0 victory continued Levadia’s commanding season at the top of the Premium Liiga with now 16 point advantage over second place Flora Tallinn.
