Latvia will be without captain Antonijs Černomordijs and defender Dennis Cirkins for Monday’s Nations League match away to Cyprus, as they complete a demanding run of four games in 11 days. Kick-off at the GSP Stadium is scheduled for 19:00, with the match live on LTV7.

The teams drew 0-0 in Riga on 28th September. Latvia have since lost 2-1 to group leaders Montenegro, with Markuss Strods scoring their first goal of the campaign. Cyprus beat Armenia 2-0 on Friday, despite playing the second half with 10 men.

Montenegro lead the group with nine points. Cyprus are second on four, Armenia have three and Latvia are bottom with one. Cirkins, who plays for Queens Park Rangers, completed 90 minutes in each of Latvia’s first three matches of the international window and will sit this one out as per agreement with the club. Černomordijs misses the game after collecting two yellow cards during the window.

Latvia midfielder Danila Patijčuks says his side are ready to finish their Nations League window against Cyprus, despite a demanding schedule.

“We can play with the ball; that is something we are good at. We showed it against Montenegro, and we need to show it again,” said Patijčuks, who made his first start for Latvia in Friday’s match. The 23-year-old FK Liepāja player described the mood in the squad as good and said he hoped to see another energetic, aggressive display.

Patijčuks said both teams would be tired going into their final match of the camp, making energy on the pitch a key factor. Latvia and Cyprus drew 0-0 in their first meeting a week ago.

Latvia will return to Nations League action in November, away to Montenegro on 12 November before hosting Armenia on 15 November.
