Estonia international Märten Kuusk helped Polonia Warszawa maintain their perfect start to the Polish I Liga season as they claimed a 3-1 home victory over Skierniewice on Saturday.

The 30-year-old centre-back started for the second consecutive league match after opening the campaign with a 1-0 win over Puszcza.

Polonia fell behind in the 36th minute, but the game turned just four minutes later when the visitors were reduced to ten men following a red card.

The hosts capitalised on their numerical advantage after the break, equalising from the penalty spot in the 54th minute. Despite dominating for much of the second half, Polonia had to wait until the 89th minute for the breakthrough, when Ernest Terpilowski scored the decisive goal. Deep into stoppage time, the home side added a third to seal a convincing 3-1 victory.

Kuusk played until the 83rd minute before being substituted.

Polonia Warszawa have now won both of their opening league matches and will return to action on Friday when they host Ruch Chorzow.
