FC Kuressaare and JK Narva Trans could not be separated in the 16th round of the Premium Liiga, playing out a 0-0 draw in a tense meeting between two teams fighting near the bottom of the table.

Both sides entered the match needing points, and the game reflected that pressure. The opening half-hour was cautious, with Kuressaare enjoying more possession while Trans looked to attack quickly in transition.

The match finally opened up after the 30-minute mark. Kuressaare created the first major chance when Taavi Jürisoo did well on the left and found Andero Kivi in front of goal, but Daniil Pareiko reacted brilliantly to deny him from close range.

Trans responded soon after when Ahmad Gero struck the post from the edge of the penalty area, with Kuressaare goalkeeper Karl-Romet Nõmm rooted to the spot. Moments later Murad Velijev appeared to have given Trans the lead with a low shot from outside the box, but the goal was ruled out after the ball had struck his hand in the build-up.

The first half ended goalless despite Trans having more attempts, while Kuressaare had produced the clearest chance. The second half continued in a similar pattern, with both teams creating opportunities but failing to find a breakthrough. Trans appealed for a penalty early after Velijev’s shot struck the hand of a Kuressaare defender, but no spot kick was awarded.

Kuressaare then went close again from a corner. Rico Piil found space just a few metres from goal, but Pareiko produced another excellent reaction save to keep the ball out from under the crossbar. Andero Kivi headed narrowly over from the following corner.

At the other end, Gero forced Nõmm into a low save after a pass from Stanislav Agaptšev, while Trans continued to threaten from set pieces and long-range efforts. Kuressaare also hit the post through Kivi in the 64th minute after good work from Jevgeni Demidov.

The final stages saw Trans become the more attacking side, but Kuressaare defended their box well. Both goalkeepers had important moments, and both teams also struck the woodwork once.

JK Narva Trans still are last in the league table with 10 points after 16 matches, meanwhile Kuressaare with seven points more are eight.
