Ķigurs brace earns RFS late win over Tukums 2000
Photo: Sanita Sparāne/RFS Mārtiņš Ķigurs scored twice in the closing stages as RFS beat Tukums 2000 2-0 to move four points clear at the top of the Virsliga. The substitute broke the deadlock in the 76th minute, heading in Lasha Odisharia’s cross, then added a second with a solo run and finish two minutes from time.
RFS dominated possession but could not find a breakthrough before the break. They increased the pressure after the restart, with Darko Lemajič introduced at half-time. Rostand Ndjiki missed a close-range chance shortly before being replaced by Ķigurs in the 61st minute; the substitute made the decisive impact soon afterwards.
Tukums goalkeeper Alekss Kuprins, 19, made several saves to keep his side in the contest. Maksym Derkach was not named in the squad, while Ruslans Deružinskis remained on the bench, further adding to an already suspicious situation with “shadow loans” under investigation by the LFF. The pair have played a combined three minutes of RFS’s 720 against Tukums this season. RFS have three league matches left, including a derby against Riga.
RFS 2-0 Tukums 2000 (0-0). Goals: Ķigurs 76, 88.
