Kauno Žalgiris reached the Lithuanian Cup final for the first time in the club’s history after a 1-0 semi-final win away to FA Šiauliai.
The visitors created the better opportunities in the first half. Ivan Fiolič came close twice, and Léo Ribeiro tested Šiauliai’s goalkeeper Baliutavičius. Anton Tolordava also narrowly missed the target with a header from a corner, before Ribeiro struck the crossbar with a left-footed effort shortly before the break.
Kauno Žalgiris continued to control the match after the break and took the lead when Anthony Kalik headed in following another effort from Ribeiro. It was Kalik’s first goal for the club. Šiauliai missed a late chance to equalise from close range, while Deividas Mikelionis made a crucial save in added time to preserve the victory.
Kauno Žalgiris will face Pirma Lyga side Minija in the final at Darius and Girėnas Stadium on 11th October.
