Kauno Žalgiris’ winless run continued also after the international break with the champions surrendering a 1-0 lead in a region derby to Hegelmann away in Raudondvaris.
Eivinas Černiauskas’ side started well and created early chances through Leo Ribeiro and Motiejus Burba, before taking the lead after 20 minutes from a set piece. Gratas Sirgėdas delivered a corner into the box and Nosa Edokpolor made no mistake to make it 1-0.
Hegelmann levelled before half-time, with Njioya also scoring from a set-piece. The game ground to a standstill after the break with neither team managing a single shot on target. Kauno Žalgiris were reduced to 10 men in the 75th minute when Luka Račić was shown a red card following a VAR review.
Kaunas seems to have jolted back to life after the sending off, with some danger coming from Damjan Pavlovič and Yukiyoshi Karashima, albeit to no relief.
Hegelmann, previously tied on draws with Sūduva and Šiauliai, have emerged undisputed leaders in this department, earning their 9th draw of the season. Kauno Žalgiris, invincible at the start of the season, now sit third in the table, 3 points behind Džiugas and 1 point behind TransINVEST.
