FC Hegelmann twice came from behind on home soil to rescue a 2-2 draw against FK Sūduva in a dramatic Toplyga round 14 encounter.

The visitors from Marijampolė started the match stronger and immediately looked more dangerous in attack. Ernestas Stočkūnas and Faustas Steponavičius both tested their luck from distance early on, while Meinardas Mikulėnas failed to capitalise after being gifted possession by the Hegelmann defence.

Sūduva’s pressure eventually paid off in the 18th minute. Ibrahim Seck created space for himself brilliantly before curling a precise strike into the far top corner to put the visitors ahead with an excellent finish.

Hegelmann responded quickly though, with striker Kader Njoya Abdel restoring parity soon afterwards to make it 1-1 and bring the home side back into the contest.

The remainder of the first half remained lively at both ends. Sūduva goalkeeper Ignas Plūkas nearly handed the hosts a major gift in the 37th minute with a risky moment in possession, while shortly afterwards he had to react quickly again to deny Donatas Kazlauskas.

The second half continued at an intense pace with both teams creating dangerous opportunities on transitions. Njoya escaped behind the Sūduva defensive line during one counterattack, but this time Plūkas came out on top with an important save. At the other end, Hegelmann goalkeeper Rokas Bagdonavičius comfortably dealt with a strike from Sidy Sanokho.

Sūduva regained the lead in the 78th minute through a beautifully constructed attack. After receiving a pass from Seck, Japanese midfielder Yusuke Omori produced a perfectly placed finish into the far bottom corner to make it 2-1 for the visitors.

However, Hegelmann refused to surrender. Deep into the closing stages, Abdel Kader Njoya produced another decisive moment, unleashing a powerful strike into the top corner to secure a point for the home side and complete his brace.

The draw means Sūduva missed the chance to take all three points despite leading twice, while Hegelmann showed resilience once again to continue collecting points near the top end of the table.
