Gintra thrash TransINVEST to move within reach of 25th title
Photo: FK Gintra Gintra moved to the brink of a 25th Lithuanian women’s league title with a 6-0 win away to TransINVEST in a rearranged 16th-round match. The champions scored three times in the opening 13 minutes and led 3-0 at half-time.
Meida Proscevičiūtė opened the scoring in the second minute, while Kubiliūtė and Khrystyna Pereviznyk added goals before the break. Pereviznyk struck again in the 52nd minute, Kubiliūtė converted a penalty in the 90th, and TransINVEST also scored an own goal.
Gintra have 54 points, 11 more than second-placed MFA Žalgiris, with four rounds remaining. An unbeaten season so far includes three draws. A win against third-placed FK Žalgiris on Saturday, 24 October, would secure the club’s 25th title and 22nd in succession.
Pereviznyk’s brace took her league tally to 15, level with former Žalgiris player Olamidė Adugbe. Canada international Kiyani Johnson has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious injury.
