Flora have ended their association with Portuguese assistant coach João Abel Cruz, less than a year after he joined the Tallinn club.
Cruz arrived in January and departs by mutual agreement, confirming the news in a post on Instagram. “After eight months, my time at FC Flora comes to an end by mutual agreement,” he wrote, thanking the club, players and backroom staff.
He reserved special praise for former head coach Konstantin Vassiljev, who left the club last week, describing him as “a true leader”. Cruz was part of the Flora coaching team that won the Evald Tipner Cup in May.
Reflecting on his spell in Estonia, Cruz said it had been a “personal adventure” and a “major culture shock” that tested him daily, while also delivering three personal milestones: his top-flight debut, his first trophy in professional football and his first experience in European competition.
“Now it is time to recharge close to the people who matter to me and prepare for the next challenges,” Cruz added.
