Flora have ended their collaboration with head coach Konstantin Vassiljev by mutual agreement after just over 18 months in charge, with the club confirming the initiative to conclude the partnership came from its side.
Sporting director Taavi Trasberg said the spell would be remembered as part of the club’s wider aim of bringing new coaches and players into Estonian top-flight football, pointing to last season’s league title and this year’s Evald Tipner Cup success as the key landmarks.
Vassiljev first joined Flora’s senior squad in 2019 and spent almost eight seasons at the club as a player and later as head coach. Flora said he won four Estonian championships, one Evald Tipner Cup and three Estonian Supercups on the pitch, and added a league title and an Evald Tipner Cup as a coach.
As captain, he also led the team to the group stage of the UEFA Conference League in 2021-22, which the club described as a historic achievement.
Vassiljev thanked Flora for “all the years” and for giving him the chance to take his first steps as a coach, adding: “We experienced both successes and setbacks and we are parting on good terms, which is the most important thing.” He also paid tribute to staff, players and supporters, and wished the club and the incoming coaching team well as the title race continues.
