The live television broadcast of FK Žalgiris’ UEFA Conference League first qualifying round match from Montenegro attracted one of the largest audiences for a Lithuanian domestic football broadcast this year.
Žalgiris’ away fixture against OFK Petrovac was broadcast live on TV6 on the evening of July 9. The Lithuanian champions secured an impressive 3-1 victory, taking a significant advantage into the return leg.
According to television ratings data, at least 145,000 viewers tuned in to watch the match, making it the second most-watched Lithuanian football broadcast of the year.
“Our goal is simple: to bring Lithuanian football and FK Žalgiris to as many viewers as possible. We are delighted that the first match attracted such strong interest. We hope to see even higher viewership for the return leg on TV3,” said Žalgiris club president Andrius Tapinas.
Tapinas added that the club expects a packed home stadium for the second leg in Vilnius, with the matchday atmosphere, combined with live coverage on one of Lithuania’s largest television channels, expected to attract an even wider audience.
The return leg between FK Žalgiris and OFK Petrovac will take place on July 16 at Žalgiris’ home stadium in Vilnius, with kick-off scheduled for 8:00 p.m. local time. The match will be broadcast live on TV3.
Fans will also be treated to a special pre-match and half-time programme, Green and White Studio, featuring expert analysis, live updates from the stadium, and interviews with guests from the football community. The programme will be hosted by former Lithuania international Žydrūnas Grudzinskas alongside football commentator and journalist Mantas Krasnickas.
