Lithuanian champions FK Kauno Žalgiris have completed their first signing ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, reaching an agreement with Brazilian forward Renan Oliveira.
The Kaunas-based club has signed the experienced attacker on a contract that will keep him at the club until the end of 2027.
The 29-year-old arrives in Lithuania from Bosnia and Herzegovina’s most successful club, FK Sarajevo, where he spent more than three years, aside from a brief spell away from the team. During his time in the Bosnian capital, Oliveira made 82 appearances, scoring 28 goals and providing eight assists.
While under contract with Sarajevo, the Brazilian also spent six months on loan with Colombian side Inter de Bogotá.
Oliveira began his professional career in Brazil before making the move to Europe with Slovak club Zlaté Moravce. He later spent a season with Maltese outfit San Ġwann, before continuing his career in Ukraine with PFC Lviv and Kolos Kovalivka. He also enjoyed a loan spell in Portugal with Gil Vicente.
Lithuanian football fans will remember Oliveira from his successful stint with FK Žalgiris Vilnius during the 2022 season. He played a key role in the club’s domestic success, helping the team win both the A Lyga title and the LithuanianCup.
That same season, Oliveira finished as the top scorer in the Lithuanian league, establishing himself as one of the most effective attacking players in the competition.
His return to Lithuania now sees him join reigning champions FK Kauno Žalgiris, where expectations will be high as the club looks to strengthen its squad for the remainder of the season and future European campaigns.
