One of the most entertaining matches of Premium Liiga Matchday 8 ended in a 2-2 draw, as Harju JK Laagri came from behind and eventually rescued a point at home against Paide Linnameeskond.
The match started evenly, but Harju struck first in the 20th minute. A long free-kick from deep caught the Paide back line out, and Karel Eerme timed his run perfectly before finishing one-on-one to give the hosts the lead.
Paide gradually grew into the game and found an equaliser before halftime. Sander Soo collided with a Paide attacker in the box, and after the foul was given, Abdourahman Badamosi stepped up and calmly converted the penalty to make it 1-1.
The game remained balanced after the break, but controversy arrived just after the hour mark. Harju thought they had retaken the lead when Kaspar Laur scored after a dropped ball in the area, only for VAR to intervene and rule that Laur had fouled the goalkeeper in the challenge. Instead of Harju going ahead, Paide struck minutes later. With the hosts expecting a whistle for a foul in midfield, play continued, and Miller surged forward before smashing home to make it 2-1 for the visitors.
Harju refused to fold and pushed hard in the closing stages. Their pressure was finally rewarded in the 88th minute when they won a penalty after contact inside the area. Eerme stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way, scoring his second of the night and making it 2-2.
The draw could even have turned into something more for Harju. Deep into stoppage time, they kept piling on the pressure and came close again through Reimaa after a corner, but his effort flew narrowly over the top corner.
At the final whistle, both sides took a point from a game that felt truly even. Paide dropped valuable points at the top, while Harju could argue they were the stronger side in the final minutes and perhaps deserved even more.
