FC Džiugas Telšiai announced their first new signing today on social media. The newcomer is Gabriel Castro, a 24-year-old right-back from Portugal.
Castro is a product of the Oeiras and Benfica academies. After progressing through their youth ranks, he joined Estoril in 2018 but did not make a first-team debut there, mostly playing for their reserve team. He later moved to another Portuguese club, Sintrese.
In 2022, Castro ventured outside of Portugal for the first time in his professional career by joining GIF Sundsvall, a club in Sweden’s top flight. During his time there, he made six appearances in the Allsvenskan. After six months in Sweden, he returned to Portugal and most recently played for 1º Dezembro in the Portuguese third division.
