In one of the most entertaining matches of the 2026 Toplyga season so far, Džiugas Telšiai came from behind to defeat fellow title challengers FK TransINVEST 3-2 at home and climb into second place in the league table.

The visitors created the first dangerous moment of the game in the ninth minute when Xabi Auzmendi delivered a dangerous set-piece towards Stefan Milošević, but the striker could not make proper contact inside the penalty area.

Džiugas quickly responded and nearly opened the scoring themselves in the 16th minute. Jakub Wawszczyk forced a save from goalkeeper Mantas Bertašius with a long-range strike, while the rebound fell kindly for Denys Bunchukov, whose effort crashed against the woodwork.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 20th minute. Ričardas Šveikauskas handled the ball inside his own penalty area and Džiugas were awarded a penalty. Ibrahim Cisse stepped up and confidently converted from the spot to make it 1-0.

However, the lead lasted only a few minutes. In a near-identical situation at the other end, Ronald Sobowale was penalised for handball inside the box and Yehor Glushach equalised from the penalty spot for TransINVEST.

The visitors carried that momentum into the second half and took the lead shortly after the restart. Šveikauskas redeemed himself for the earlier handball with a superb long pass forward that found Milošević, who calmly finished to put TransINVEST ahead 2-1.

Džiugas continued pushing forward and found their equaliser in the 71st minute. After a corner delivery from Deitonas Vinckus, Spanish defender Iker Scotto rose highest inside the box and powered a header into the net.

The winning moment arrived nine minutes from time. Substitute Denis Ževžikovas was given far too much space inside the penalty area, cut past his defender and fired a low shot beyond Bertašius to complete the comeback and secure a huge 3-2 victory for the hosts.

Following Matchday 15, Džiugas climb up to the second place in the league table and now sit only two points behind league leaders FK Kauno Žalgiris, while TransINVEST remain third in the standings with 25 points.
