Freshly called up to the Lithuanian national team, Edgaras Dubickas continued his excellent run of form in Italy, scoring the decisive goal in Ternana’s 2-1 win over Pineto in Serie C.
The 27-year-old striker, who was officially named in Lithuania’s squad just two days ago, is enjoying his best start to a season since 2021. After netting three goals in his first five league outings, Dubickas added a fourth today.
With the match level at 1-1 at halftime, Dubickas made the difference midway through the second half. Reacting quickest after the goalkeeper parried a teammate’s shot into the danger area, he calmly slotted home to give Ternana the lead.
The win lifts Ternana into fifth place in the standings with 13 points from eight matches. However, the Italian third tier does not pause for the international break, meaning Ternana will be without their Lithuanian striker in their next fixture away to Forlì on October 11.
Meanwhile, in Armenia’s top division, 25-year-old winger Matas Vareika once again featured off the bench for Pyunik Yerevan, who cruised to a 5-1 home victory over Van.
Vareika has now made five league appearances this season without finding the net. The former Lithuanian youth international will be aiming to rediscover the form he showed last year, when he struck seven goals in just 11 league matches.
