FK Auda secured a 2-1 home victory over FK Tukums 2000 in Matchday 9 of the Tonybet Virslīga, drawing level on points with Riga FC and strengthening their hold on third place.

Played in difficult, windy conditions at Mežaparks Sports Village, the match offered limited fluency, with both teams struggling to build consistent attacking play. Auda entered the game looking to build momentum after ending a two-match winless run, while Tukums continued their search for a first victory of the season.

The opening phase was cautious. Tukums registered the first attempt in the 12th minute when Joseph Ede Oloko tried his luck from distance, but Nils Toms Puriņš handled it comfortably.

Auda’s first real opportunity proved decisive. After a well-worked move down the left between Deniss Meļņiks and Oskars Rubenis, the latter struck the crossbar with a powerful effort. The rebound fell perfectly for captain Eduards Dašķevičs, who reacted quickly to fire home from a tight angle and give the hosts the lead in the 22nd minute.

The game came alive late in the first half. Tukums equalised from a set piece when Oloko found space close to goal and finished clinically, scoring his fifth goal of the season. However, Auda responded almost immediately. Deep into first-half stoppage time, Hussaini Ibrahim struck from outside the box, beating Ivans Baturins, whose view was obstructed, to restore the lead.

The second half was more fragmented, with fewer clear chances. Despite Auda being in control for long spells, Tukums created the more dangerous moments in search of an equaliser. Oloko came closest in the 82nd minute with a well-taken free kick, but Puriņš produced a strong save to preserve the advantage.

In the closing minutes, Auda dropped deeper and managed the game efficiently, holding possession when possible and limiting Tukums’ opportunities. Their disciplined approach ensured all three points.

The result sees Auda complete the first round with six wins from nine matches, moving level on points with Riga FC. Tukums, meanwhile, remain without a victory, sitting on five points from five draws.

Both sides return to action on Friday. Auda will face SK Super Nova away, while Tukums host FS Jelgava.
