In the opening match of Matchday 5 in the Estonian Premium Liiga, Paide Linnameeskond secured a 1-0 victory against Tartu JK Tammeka, thanks to a goal from Milan Delevic.

Paide’s manager, Ivan Stojkovic, opted to stick with the same starting lineup that had seen them win 5-0 against Tallinna Kalev in their previous match. In contrast, Tammeka’s manager, Pahn, made three changes to the starting lineup after a heavy defeat to Parnu JK Vaprus. The most notable change was Carl Kiidjarv, who made his first start of the season as goalkeeper.

From the start of the match, Paide was eager to score, but they struggled with their finishing. Tammeka’s strategy in the first half focused on finding opportunities through counter-attacks.

As the first half drew to a close, Tammeka was fortunate not to be trailing, as Kiidjarv made several crucial saves in his season-debut match.

Paide finally broke the deadlock in the second half. Martin Miller’s initial shot from close range was blocked, but the ball rebounded to Serbian defender Milan Delevic, who scored his first goal of the season, giving Paide a 1-0 lead.

In the remaining minutes, Tartu failed to create any significant threats against Paide’s goalkeeper, Jarju. The match concluded with Paide winning its second consecutive game, while Tammeka, after a victory in its opening match, found itself winless in the following four games, with three of those resulting in losses.

Paide will look to extend its winning streak on Wednesday when it hosts Parnu JK Vaprus, while Tammeka will host FC Flora Tallinn the day before, on Tuesday.
