The Lithuanian women’s national team will host the Azerbaijan women’s national team today at the FK Žalgiris stadium during their second match in the UEFA Nations League.

Under the new management of Tomas Ražanauskas, the Lithuanian team began their Nations League campaign with a 1-3 defeat against Montenegro, with Marija Galkina scoring the only goal for Lithuania. In contrast, Azerbaijan’s women’s national team played to a goalless draw against Montenegro in their first match at home.

For this match, the Lithuanian national team includes many key players along with some new faces. Among the newcomers are goalkeeper Gabrielė Vasilenko and midfielder Justina Blaževičiūtė, who regularly compete for the youth national teams.

Manager Ražanauskas noted that the mood within the team is positive, emphasizing that the most important factor is that all players are healthy and ready for the match. “As always, the mood is good. We are looking forward to the game and hope that everyone will be healthy and prepared,” the coach said.

He also urged not to underestimate the Azerbaijan team, as they have played against several capable opponents in recent years. “It’s hard to make a definitive assessment, but I have watched some of their matches against stronger teams like Portugal and Switzerland. They play well, similar to teams in the Turkish league,” Ražanauskas shared.

“We approach every game with the goal of earning three points. Every player must have the desire to win, and that’s what we’ll be aiming for on Friday,” he stated in the statement to LFF.

The match at FK Žalgiris stadium is scheduled to start at 18:30 Baltic Time.
