In today’s Italian Serie A match the Lithuanian star Gvidas Gineitis scored his third goal of the season, helping FC Torino secure a 1-1 draw against Lazio.
The Lithuanian player who started in the last league match against Empoli was back on the bench today. The first half of the game was quiet, with no goals scored. However, the excitement picked up in the second half when Lazio took the lead. Montenegro forward Adam Marusic scored a stunning volley from the edge of the box, hitting the inside of the right post to find the back of the net.
Gineitis entered the game in the 71st minute, replacing Casadei. Just ten minutes later, the 20-year-old, who scored a spectacular goal last week in a 2-2 draw against Finland, found himself on the scoresheet again. A deflected pass from a Torino player went straight to Gineitis, who seized the opportunity and shot low into the middle of the net to tie the game.
The teams did not score any further goals in the remaining minutes, allowing Torino to secure a point.
Gvidas Gineitis scored his third goal of the season in 23 league appearances. The Lithuanian previously scored a game-tying goal against Fiorentina in January and a game-winning goal against AC Milan a few weeks ago.
With 39 points after 30 games, Torino is 11th in the Italian Serie A. Their next league match is on Sunday when they host Verona.
