Defending A Lyga champions Vilnius Žalgiris have announced the signing of 29-year-old defensive midfielder Ebenezer Ofori. Ofori has experience in the German Bundesliga, is a former member of the Ghanaian national team, and most recently played in the Danish league.

Ofori moved to Europe at the age of 18, joining Swedish club AIK from Ghana. He spent three full seasons there, making 113 appearances in the Allsvenskan, where he scored four goals and provided 13 assists. His performances in Sweden attracted the attention of the German club Stuttgart, which signed him in January 2017 for €1.5 million.

During his first season with Stuttgart, he helped the team win the 2. Bundesliga. However, in the following season, he made only one appearance in the Bundesliga, coming off the bench against Eintracht Frankfurt. In the second part of the season, he was loaned to MLS side New York City FC, where he became a regular starter, playing there on loan for two seasons. After his stint in America, Ofori briefly returned to AIK, the club where he first made a name for himself.

For the past three and a half seasons, he played for Vejle BK in Denmark, competing in both the top flight and second division. He made a total of 69 appearances for the club.

He has also represented the Ghana national team nine times, scoring one goal against Ethiopia in 2017. His last appearance for the national team was in 2019 during a friendly match against Namibia.

Ebenezer Ofori may make his debut for Vilnius Žalgiris tomorrow in an away game against DFK Dainava Alytus.
