In the first match of the day in Premium Liiga, two winless teams from Matchday 1 faced off as Harju JK Laagri registered their first victory of the season, defeating JK Tallinna Kalev 2-0.

Both teams lost in their opening matches: Harju lost heavily against champions FCI Levadia, 0-5, while Kalev lost to Tartu Tammeka, 1-2.

At the beginning of the match, both teams had opportunities to score, but neither could capitalize due to poor finishing.

In the 25th minute, Harju finally broke the deadlock. A one-two play between Harju players Antonov and Rudenko set up Rudenko to pass the ball to an unguarded Kristjan Kriis in front of the goal, who scored his first goal and Harju’s first of the new Premium Liiga season.

A few minutes later, Harju scored again. Jose Ribeiro delivered an excellent through ball to the running Karel Eerme, who found himself in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper. The 20-year-old forward, who scored 28 goals in the Esiliiga last season, doubled Harju’s lead with his first goal of the season in the Estonian top flight.

As the game progressed, Kalev attempted to score at least once, but they couldn’t create a clear-cut chance, as Harju maintained control of the match and secured their first win of the season. Meanwhile, JK Tallinna Kalev remained winless.

In their next match before the international break, Harju JK Laagri will play an away game against FC Kuressaare on Sunday, while Kalev will aim for their first points on Saturday when they host the struggling FC Flora.
