
Lithuanian champions FK Žalgiris have announced the signing of the South Sudan international Machop Chol.
The 26-year-old forward joins the club from San Antonio FC, which competes in the USL Championship, the second tier of professional football in the United States. Last season, he made 22 appearances and scored two goals.
Machop was born in Khartoum, the capital of South Sudan, but he grew up in the United States. He played college soccer at Wake Forest University for four years and, after graduating, he joined the Atlanta United system. He made his MLS debut in 2021.
Before moving to San Antonio, Machop spent three years with Atlanta United, splitting his time between the first and second teams. During that period, he made 34 MLS appearances and scored two goals.
Additionally, Machop has represented the South Sudan national team, making four appearances.
FK Žalgiris began the new A Lyga season last Sunday with a 2-1 victory against Džiugas Telšiai. Tomorrow, Žalgiris will play their second league match against newly promoted side FK Riteriai.
