In the Scottish Premiership, Kristers Tobers was substituted in the first half due to an injury as his team, Aberdeen, made a comeback in a crucial match against Dundee United, resulting in a 2-2 draw.
The Latvian national team captain had not finished the previous game against Celtic due to precautionary measures after experiencing discomfort in his hamstring during a 1-5 defeat.
Today, he returned to the starting lineup but was unable to complete the match. In one instance, he turned his ankle; although he managed to continue playing after treatment, another collision forced him to leave the game. This situation is concerning, especially with Latvia’s World Cup qualifying campaign starting in less than three weeks, which includes matches against Andorra and England at Wembley.
At the end of the first half, Aberdeen found themselves two goals down. However, Kevin Nisbet scored twice in the 75th and 91st minutes, earning a vital point in the fight for a European spot next season, as Dundee United is closely positioned to them in the league table.
Following this draw, Aberdeen dropped to 4th place, overtaken by Edinburgh Hibernian, who won the Edinburgh derby and moved ahead of both Aberdeen and Dundee United in the standings.
Aberdeen’s next match will be on Sunday in the Scottish Cup quarterfinal against Queen’s Park, a team from the lower leagues.
