Jaunzems, now an undisputed starter for Stal Mielec, made his 11th consecutive start in the Ekstraklasa for the club. Valmiera FC’s former captain has certainly earned his coach’s trust. The match began positively for Stal Mielec when, in the 36th minute, veteran player Krystian Getinger’s shot trickled past all defenders and the goalkeeper, finding the bottom left corner of the net.

At the start of the second half, Stal Mielec was awarded a penalty, which was successfully converted by another veteran, Piotr Wlazlo. However, Piast Gliwice responded quickly, with Spaniard Jorge Felix narrowing the gap shortly after. The comeback was completed in the 71st minute when Michal Chrapek scored the equalizer.

Piast Gliwice couldn’t net a third goal despite dominating the match and creating numerous chances. In the end, Stal Mielec realistically escaped with a valuable point from Gliwice.
