FK Metta has secured the signing of 19-year-old midfielder Kevins Cēsnieks, who spent most of last season on the bench or playing for the reserves at Valmiera FC. Seeking more playing time, the young talent is set to take on a bigger role in Metta’s midfield for the 2025 Virslīga season.

Cēsnieks is a product of the Jelgava football system and has been regarded as a promising talent since his early years. Born in 2005, he made his Virslīga debut in 2020 at just 15 years, 6 months, and 6 days old, making him one of the youngest players ever to appear in Latvia’s top division. During that season, he came off the bench four times for FK Jelgava.

His first full Virslīga season came in 2023, when he played a key role in FS Jelgava’s campaign, featuring in 32 matches and establishing himself as one of the team’s standout young players. His performances earned him a move to Valmiera FC ahead of the 2024 season, but the transition did not go as planned. He struggled for minutes, making only five league appearances and often remaining on the bench or out of the matchday squad entirely.

Now, with his move to FK Metta, Cēsnieks is expected to play a much bigger role and further develop his potential in Latvia’s top tier. FK Metta will begin their 2025 Virslīga season on March 7 with an away match against FK Liepāja.
