FS Jelgava has further bolstered its defense by signing 24-year-old center-back Kristers Aļekseičiks for the 2025 Virslīga season. He becomes the second former Valmiera FC defender to join the club this transfer window, following Roberts Veips.

Born in Kuldīga, Aļekseičiks first discovered his passion for football at the age of four while playing with relatives. His early training began in Kuldīga, but due to family circumstances, he moved to England, where he continued developing his skills. At nine years old, he started training seriously in the youth system of Leamington Hibs.

At 12, he returned to Latvia and joined FK Ventspils, training under coach Igors Kičigins. His progress led to a Virslīga debut for Ventspils in 2019. Two years later, in 2021, he signed with Valmiera FC, but in mid-2022, he was loaned to FK Tukums 2000, where he finished the season before rejoining Valmiera’s first team.

Aļekseičiks has accumulated noticable top-flight experience, playing 52 Virslīga matches and scoring five goals. His best season came last year, when he found the net three times in 21 league appearances for Valmiera. With Aļekseičiks, Veips, and Valters Purs, Jelgava now has a strong and stable trio of central defenders.

FS Jelgava will kick off their 2025 Virslīga campaign on March 5th with an away fixture against FK Grobiņa.
