On Sunday in the Swiss Super League, the Latvian national team player Andrejs Cigaņiks played the full match helping his team Luzern secure a 2-0 victory over St. Gallen.
The 27-year-old defender played, as usual, on his preferred left side of the field. The match’s first goal came at the end of the first half, when Thibault Klidje provided an assist to Austrian forward Adrian Grbic, who scored his third goal in the last two league games.
The insurance goal was scored in the 85th minute when 21-year-old Swiss midfielder Tyron Owosu scored his first-ever goal in the Swiss Super League.
Cigaņiks has made 20 appearances this season in the Swiss Super League, contributing with one goal and three assists for Luzern.
This victory marked Luzern’s third win in their last four league matches, positioning them in 2nd place in the Swiss Super League.
Cigaņiks and his team will be back in action on Friday, traveling to face Basel, who are currently right next to them in the league standings.
