The Canadian Premier League side Halifax Wanderers have signed former Valmiera FC Congolese-French forward Jason Bahamboula to a contract that runs through the 2026.
At 23 years old, Bahamboula was a key contributor on the right wing for Valmiera FC in Latvia last season, where he scored six goals and provided three assists in 31 games played across all competitions as Valmiera finished fourth in the Virslīga. He came over to Virslīga after spending four years in Portugal playing in Vitoria Guimaraes system.
Although he was born in France, Bahamboula is also eligible to represent the Republic of the Congo in international competitions. He received his first call-up to the Congo National Team in the spring of 2024 and made his international debut on March 25 in a friendly match against Gabon. Since then, he has made three appearances for his national team, including recent African Cup of Nations qualifying matches in November.
