FS Jelgava has formed a partnership with Czech First Division club Baník Ostrava, offering new opportunities for its young players. As part of the collaboration, four Jelgava U-16 Elite Group players have already traveled to Ostrava for training and development.
The first to make the trip were Nils Voitišķis and Daniels Huberts Kaira, who joined Baník’s U-17 team for a two-week program. The experience included a training camp in the Tatra Mountains and a friendly match against Cracovia’s U-17 academy in Kraków, Poland. Despite language barriers, the players impressed Baník’s U-17 coach, David Holiš, who confirmed the academy’s interest in monitoring their future progress.
In the second round of exchanges, Valters Lūsis and Kristers Višņevskis also traveled to Ostrava, further strengthening ties between the clubs.
The partnership extends to coaching as well, with Valērijs Redjko, FS Jelgava’s U-18 and reserve team coach, interning at Baník Ostrava while preparing for his UEFA Pro License.
