According to our sources, Virslīga club FK Liepāja has parted ways with two players – full-back Cheikh Faye and central midfielder Edgars Ivanovs.

Cheikh Faye, born in 1999 in Senegal, celebrates his 26th birthday today. He joined FK Liepāja in June 2023 from the well-known Senegalese club Diambars FC. During the 2023 season, Faye secured a spot in the starting lineup and made a solid contribution to the team. However, in the 2024 season, his playing time decreased significantly, featuring in 16 matches.

Edgars Ivanovs, a product of Daugavpils’ football system, joined Liepāja last winter after accumulating over 100 appearances in the Virslīga. Unfortunately, his move to Liepāja did not go as planned for either party. Ivanovs managed to make only six appearances before being loaned to SK Super Nova, the Nākotnes Līga champions, for the remainder of the season.

With their contracts terminated, both players are now free agents and on the hunt for new opportunities to continue their careers.
