One of last season’s top goalkeepers, Krišjānis Zviedris joins Riga FC

Riga FC has officially announced the signing of Krišjānis Zviedris, the 27-year-old Latvian goalkeeper from FK Auda.

Born on January 25, 1997, in Kuldīga, Zviedris began his football journey in the academies of Kuldīga and Liepāja. His professional career took off in 2018 when he signed with FK Liepāja, where he made an impressive 98 appearances as the team’s first-choice goalkeeper.

In 2019, Zviedris gained valuable experience abroad during a loan spell at Atlantas, a top-tier Lithuanian club. In 2023, he ventured further by joining SJK in Finland’s Veikkausliiga.

Returning to Latvia in 2024, Zviedris represented FK Auda, where he featured in 33 matches and was widely recognized as one of the league’s top goalkeepers.

Zviedris has already had a chance to test himself with Riga FC during their winter training camp in Dubai. He played two friendlies, appearing for 45 minutes against United FC and another 45 minutes against Žilina, showcasing his readiness and adaptability in international settings.

Notably, during the winter, Zviedris reportedly received an offer from RFS, the reigning Latvian champions. However, he opted not to join RFS and instead chose Riga FC.
