Kristers Tobers made his second appearance for Aberdeen F.C. today, but the team suffered a defeat against Glasgow Rangers 0-3.
Aberdeen visited the famous Ibrox ground, and like three days ago during his debut against Heart of Midlothian, Tobers was again named in the starting lineup.
Again, Tobers started alongside the experienced Norwegian player Nielsen, who is primarily a midfielder but has lately played as a center-back because of injuries at that position. Unfortunately, a mistake by Nielsen in the 13th minute led to a goal by Moroccan forward Hamza Igamane, and Rangers took the early lead.
Although Rangers dominated the game and created more chances, Tobers had his own opportunity. Midway through the first half, he received a cross after a set piece, but he couldn’t generate enough power on his header, and the goalkeeper made the save.
The Latvian national team captain also received a yellow card in the first half.
In his debut match, Tobers played for 66 minutes, but today, coach Jimmy Thelin allowed him to complete his first full game in the Scottish Premiership.
Toward the end of the match, Rangers scored the second and third goals, sealing a loss for Aberdeen. With this defeat, Aberdeen set an unwanted record, as they have never before gone in their 100+ year history 12 games without a win in the Scottish league.
Tobers and Aberdeen’s next match will be on Saturday when they face Elgin City in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup.
