Serbian second division side FK Smederevo 1924 has announced the signing of Estonian midfielder German Šlein.

The 28-year-old defensive midfielder has played for various Estonian teams throughout his career. He began with TJK Legion before moving to FC Flora Tallinn, where he spent nearly eight years.

In 2018, Šlein made his first move abroad when he was loaned from Flora to Czech club Jihlava. After one season there, he returned to Estonia. Upon the expiration of his contract with Flora, he rejoined TJK Legion, where he played for two seasons. In 2022, he transferred to Nõmme Kalju but spent the previous season with JK Narva Trans, making 35 appearances in the Premium Liiga and scoring one goal.

Overall, Šlein has made 191 appearances in the Premium Liiga and scored six goals.

Now, he is attempting to make an impact abroad once again as he signs with FK Smederevo 1924, a team currently positioned 10th in the Serbian second league standings.

The club’s sports director, Vladimir Simović, introduced Šlein to the public, highlighting that his experience in the Estonian top division will greatly enhance the quality and stability of the team. He also mentioned that Šlein is the first of five guaranteed signings aimed at strengthening the club during the winter transfer window.
